Biography

Sylvie Covey was born and raised in Paris, France. After travelling the world, she moved to NYC in 1978 and established a printmaking studio on Times Square, where she continues to live and produce all types of prints.

She received an MFA from CUNY Hunter College, and she teaches printmaking at the Art Students League of New York [1995-present] and at the Fashion Institute of Technology [2001-present].

Sylvie had 25 solo shows in the US and participated in 75 group shows and Biennales in the USA, France, Slovenia, Poland, Austria, Germany, Ireland, Brazil, and Japan.

Artist Statement:

I started making art as a printmaker, painter, and photographer. Today I mostly work from digital photography combined with photo techniques in printmaking. I search to transcend reality, with unlimited transformations in color, surfaces, and dimensions.
