BS – Iowa State University, apparel / textile design. MA – Michigan State University, textile design with an internship at a printing mill in Finland. PhD – the University of Tennessee in textile dyeing, quality, and design. Associate Professor in textile printing, history and color. Recruited to industry to manage screen-printing for an apparel manufacturer. Transitioned to color quality for retail product development, managing global color quality teams until I retired. Active in screen-printing at the Indy Art Center and the 67th Street Printmakers. I have recently had two solo shows and have participated in local and national juried exhibitions.

My primary process is screen printing. Recently, I added overprinting on digitally manipulated photographs. I enjoy balancing the planning involved in preparing to print with the intuitive layering of patterns in the studio. The abstract style is inspired by texture and historic patterns. I reference 20th century artists, who experimented with color, influenced by the surge in color science starting in 1850’s. For me color experimentation is an essential requirement for vanishing and revealing shapes, movement, and visual experience. Working abstractly, I do not focus on recognizable images, concept, or story. The shapes and colors become the story.
