Richard Sloat was born in Easton, Pennsylvania in 1945. He received a degree in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. He studied printmaking with Roberto De Lamonica, from 1971-72, at the Art Students League. It was there he met his wife, Su-Li Hung. Richard Sloat has been in over 25 one or two person shows and over 200 group shows. His work is in thirty public collections including the British Museum, London and The National Gallery, Washington DC. He was elected to The National Academy of Design in 1997, where he was Recording Secretary and on the Board of Governors from 2006-11. He was President of The Society of American Artists 2003-06.
