Melody Vasquez is a printmaker, tattoo artist, and mother. Melody specializes in stone lithography but is versatile with many media. She earned her BFA from MTSU and her MFA in print from UNT in Denton. She spent several years in Chicago where she was an instructor at the Chicago Printmaker’s Collaborative and a board member of the Chicago Printmaker’s Guild. Melody also worked as a production manager and lead printer for Citizen Brick, a custom lego minifigure company. She now runs an independent lithography studio as well as Drifter Tattoo Co. in Bloomington, IN.

Melody Vasquez’s work analyzes forces of nature and their interplay with human industrialism. Humanity is primordial and technological, part of nature but also separate. Using an intuitive selection of imagery and symbolism, Vasquez investigates themes of time, change, decay, and regrowth. Attempting to see the beauty in transformation, Vasquez looks for meaningful connections between refuse and recreation.
