Biography

I combine real elements with those imagined and metaphorical. The way both instinct and societal rules interact to shape and contort us is of great interest to me. The characters and creatures in my prints are in a state of transformation. Animals, human bodies, and places evolve, devolve, and mutate.

Clementine Martinez is an illustrator and printmaker born in NYC and living in Brooklyn. She started out studying science at Oberlin College but eventually received her BFA from Pratt Institute. She is currently studying at the Art Students League, and has worked on public art, children’s books, and editorial projects.
