Biography

For over 30 years, I have been practicing printmaking: I completed several bodies of work in silkscreen and monotypes and, most recently, my focus has been on woodcuts. My works are based on my original drawings and also on photos that I treat in a very graphic way to create one of a kind or print editions. I enjoy exploring how different papers and color combinations can create very different prints based on the same matrix.

Carlos Pisco studied Fine Arts and Civil Engineering in his homeland, Rio de Janeiro. Pisco currently lives in NYC and works as faculty at the School of Visual Arts Printmaking Department. A passion for drawing and graphic forms threads through Pisco’s works focused on the male body and nature.
