Biography

Nature in its silent conquest reclaims what people construct. Harnessing nature is a human obsession, but despite all the science, industry and technology expended, nature prevails in the end. A cyclical reclamation endures. With life there is death, endings are beginnings, and what came before determines what comes next. These images of pathos and joy speak to the universal implications about living and dying in this world. I revel in the natural order and endless detail of the forest. Drawing on (and printing from) the lithographic stone has proven to be philosophically and technically suited with my interests.

Andrew Polk’s art has been shown in over 600 exhibits, including one-person and group exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. His work is included in numerous collections including the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the Tucson Museum of Art, The Denver Art Museum, the University of Arizona Museum of Art, and the Artist Printmaker/Photographer Research Collection (Texas Tech University.
