Biography

When I go about my travels – daily or otherwise – I am often drawn to a scene, view of the horizon, or particular angle of an object. These are my favorite things to capture using white line woodcuts, in part as a way of investigating and memorizing them for myself. I enjoy experimenting and relish the freedom to play with wood, color and shape that this New England-devised technique allows. I have been creating white line woodcuts, also known as Provincetown prints, since 2002, after being inspired to learn the technique by an exhibit at The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

A Michigan native and a New England transplant with deep roots, I now spend the bulk of my time in Jaffrey, New Hampshire within sight of Mt. Monadnock. I studied the white line woodcut and other printing methods in and around New England and have led classes and workshops to teach others the technique over the past two decades. A number of my New England themed prints are in the permanent collection of The Boston Athenaeum, and I co-curated a white line woodcut exhibit at The Art Complex Museum, Duxbury MA. I participate in numerous exhibits around Greater Boston and southern New Hampshire on a regular basis. I am a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen and show my work at a number of their galleries. My prints are also available at 13forest Gallery in East Arlington MA.
