My work conveys the environment in which I grew up. Riding the subways and walking the streets of New York City has always been a great inspiration to me. My printmaking tries to capture the fine details of the world around me. The tree-lined streets and the underground tunnels of the subway system are my muses. I love traditional relief printmaking. I prefer to carve and print by hand. I’m always surprised by the outcome as each print offers something different. I’ve always favored that process.
I am a 4th generation Brooklyn resident. My interest in art started at a very young age. I attended the Art Students League and attended the High School of Art and Design. After that I went to the Maryland Institute College of Art where I studied illustration and printmaking. After college I followed my father’s path and became a union electrician but never gave up my love of printmaking. I presently have a studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn where I spend a lot of time printing and focusing on my artistic development.
