Biography

Carole Winters is a printmaker/graphic designer based in Northern Kentucky. She was introduced to printmaking during college in Eastern Kentucky (B.A. in printmaking 1973), and segued that experience into a career in graphic design and publishing. She served on the volunteer board of directors for Tiger Lily Press, a fine arts print studio in Cincinnati, for seven years including one year as Director. She recently served on the board of Manifest Drawing Center which just opened a printmaking studio featuring lithography..

I have been printing since the early 70s. My work is drawing-based, therefore I love intaglio. Much of the work is inspired by personal history (including living in Amsterdam), documenting the places and people I have known. Over the past few years, I’ve been focusing on abandoned industrial landmarks around Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. I continue to explore various printmaking processes, using these buildings as subject matter. I am looking forward to getting back into stone lithography at the new print studio at Manifest Drawing Center.
