Biography

Diane Cherr is a New York based printmaker. Women’s empowerment, interpretations of stories and personal traditions are prominent themes.

Childs Gallery, MA has recently shown her prints at IFPDA Print Fairs, INK Miami and The Philadelphia Show.

Diane received awards in exhibits and had a solo show at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking, CT. Also, a recent Print Club of New York Artists’ Showcase Artist. Her prints have been shown at Dr. Bernard Heller Museum, NYC.

Collections include Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, NJ and Montefiore Hospitals, NY. Her work is in numerous collections nationally and internationally.

Juxtapositions and the unexpected in her prints create rich compositions. Many prints are filled with interpretations of stories, her personal traditions and heritage.

Images can include and combine fashion accessories and Judaic symbols, such as purses, flowers, pomegranates and candles, often reinterpreted, using intriquing combinations of color, scale or pattern. Powerful components in her prints often contribute to kaleidoscopic or quilt like compositions.
