Beatriz Rodriguez is a Cuban born artist, and educator at Wayne State College. Rodriguez received her BFA degree in Printmaking from Florida International University, graduating with honors and shortly after went on to receive her MFA from the University of Miami. While attending the University of Miami, Rodriguez received the Art Printmaking Award for two consecutive years.

Her artwork has been exhibited at art galleries nation-wide. She’s also shown in museums such as The Yellowstone Art Museum and The Bradbury Art Museum, where she received the Cultural Steward Award.

My work revolves around themes of migration, the sense of estrangement, and what it is like to be born in a land where travel is for a privileged few and many die attempting to escape for a better life. I communicate these ideas through visual narratives told through elaborate, delicate and at times grotesque imagery. My works follow the trek and survival of the inhabitants of a fictional island. We catch glimpses of their lives through the delicate and intimate prints that work as windows into the struggles, decay and life of the enigmatic bodies that inhabit the land.
