Linda Mahoney was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in the suburb of Norwood. As a child she spent countless hours painting and drawing and eventually studied art in college and received a BFA from UMASS. She was an art teacher at Stoneleigh-Burnham School for Girls in Greenfield, Massachusetts from 1987 to 2016. She was a painter for over 30 years. In 2007 took a three-day workshop in Moku Hanga, to learn the basics of Japanese Woodblock Printmaking and now this her primary medium. In 2011 she began to exhibit and sell her woodblock prints at outdoor art shows.

I paint numerous watercolors en plein air, during the warmer months, returning to favorite places each year favoring the undisturbed landscape, nature preserves, state parks, wildlife sanctuaries. I am particularly drawn to Downeast Maine, Vermont and Cape Cod. Distinctive trees, crashing surf and rocks, bogs, boreal forests, marshes, forests, streams and active skies are frequently my subjects. During the cooler months, I study these watercolors and select the ones that best capture the spirit of place to use as designs for woodblock prints. I make 6-8 prints a year.
