I made my first etching in 1980 in a printmaking course at Cleveland State University, and fell in love with the art medium. I went on and earned my MFA in Printmaking from RISD in 1985, the same year I began teaching art at Baldwin Wallace University. After a fulfilling 40 year teaching career, I retired from the university as Emeritus Professor of Art in 2025. I now work daily in my print studio making works and exhibiting in northeast Ohio.

My imagery is playful, building from a cast of characters I’ve developed over the years. My early simplistic ideas and imagery evolved into complex metaphorical stories. I began developing visual dialogs with imagined “characters” that I would use in my storytelling. I continue to alter, and expand these characters reflecting on my own life experiences. While I have worked in many print mediums, including digital, I concentrate on relief (linocut, woodcut) and intaglio (etching) processes and often paint the prints with watercolor washes.
